What is a Quad-demic?
Since Christmas 2024, I, along with so many other people in the UK, have been poorly.
I have had a cold, sore throat, ached, headaches, been sick, felt short of breath and had extreme exhaustion and felt really under the weather. I have had moments of feeling great, only to have the rug swept from under my feet and return to my bed. I have never know it.
I was listening to the radio and they mentioned the term Quad-demic and how this winter Britain’s are really struggling, not to mention the stress on our NHS.
The four viruses are flu, Covid-19, RSV and norovirus and I have ticked the box for 3 of these over the last 4 weeks!
I found a really good Sky News article describing the symptoms to look out for.
On the surface, flu, COVID-19, RSV and norovirus may seem similar, but they can cause different symptoms, according to the NHS.
Flu: Symptoms of flu can come on very quickly and can include a sudden high temperature, aching body, dry cough, sore throat, headache and exhaustion.
COVID-19: A high temperature, a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste, shortness of breath, exhaustion or a new continuous cough could mean you have COVID.
RSV: Symptoms typically start within a few days of getting infected and can include a runny or blocked nose, a cough, sneezing and tiredness.
Norovirus: An unpleasant stomach bug that can cause nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, headache, aching limbs and a high temperature.
I have popped the Sky News link below if you fancy having a read.
