FAQ

Why botanicals?

Botanicals’ soothing and energising benefits have been used for centuries and are still used today. Our ancestors worldwide have utilised plants for their exceptional qualities, and unsurprisingly many of today’s modern medicines originate from these traditional herbal remedies.

We have hand-picked a range of botanicals individually tailored to each Healthipop within the Relief and Travel ranges using this knowledge.

Why haven't we used paper sticks?

We would love to have used paper sticks; however, plastic sticks are textured with very fine groves and offer a safer anchorage than their paper counterpart, which can make the lollipop head loose.

We are actively looking for a comparable safe, sustainable alternative, and of course, we would love to hear any suggestions.

Are Healthipops vegetarian and vegan friendly?

Yes. It’s not just the botanicals that are vegetarian and vegan!

All our ingredients are vegan friendly, including our vitamins and minerals – even our ‘Vit D3’ (cholecalciferol) is derived from algae.

Check out our blog ‘Vitamin D, the sunshine vit’ for more information.

What does NRV mean?

NRV ‘Nutrient Reference Value.’

NRVs are European guidance levels set for the 13 vitamins and 14 minerals for food labelling. The levels differ by age group.

Are your botanical ingredients sustainably sourced?

Yes, we always source our botanical ingredients from a sustainable source. It is important to us that we use the best ingredients possible with sustainability as part of the Healthipops ethos.

Are Healthipops just for children?

We would love the grown-ups to try all our Healthipops, especially the Ear Popper Stopper, which has been created to be used by all, whether you are 4 or 104! Botanicals are great for both children and adults.

The vitamin and mineral levels ‘NRV’ (Nutrient Reference Value) has been calculated from ages four to twelve, but of course, adults would also benefit from these.

Why have you used sugar and not a sugar-free alternative?

We are actively looking for a suitable sugar-free vegan alternative ideal for a lollipop. One of the most significant side effects of most sugar-free alternatives is it can cause a laxative effect. Not ideal for a lollipop that is crafted to help children, so that is why we have made Healthipops with sugar to protect you from a sore tummy.

A famous lady once said, ‘A spoon full of sugar helps the…’ I’m sure you know the rest.

Do Heathipops contain plant bits?

Yes, there are plenty of plants bits, but you would never know. Healthipops stay super-smooth from start to finish.

Can you taste the botanicals?

A great-tasting lollipop is essential to us. There is a very slight taste of botanicals but don’t worry, they don’t taste like herbal tea. Healthipops use natural flavourings to complement the botanicals, ensuring each lollipop is not only packed with goodness but taste amazing too.

Our packaging

Healthipops contain natural fruit juice, natural colourings, natural botanical extracts and vitamins and minerals. That’s a lot of great ingredients that need to stay great. Therefore, it is essential to make sure we use really good quality packaging to keep the lollipops as airtight as possible, to stop them from degrading.

We are looking into alternatives and trialling recyclable and biodegradable products. This takes time, as we need to ensure the stability of Healthipops. It is also important that we choose a pouch that has been produced in an environmentally conscientious way. The use of water during the manufacture of some recyclable or biodegradable pouches, can be 3 times greater, than the pouch we currently use.

Where to recycle

Some local authorities take soft plastics as part of their household recycling schemes. If yours doesn’t, you may have seen quite a few major supermarkets wanting to become more carbon neutral and are now taking soft plastics to be recycled, regardless of where the goods have been purchased from. This is definitely a thumbs up.
